Customer Support: Retail Customer Service

Job Description

Defined by their focus on customer service excellence, the Store Associate is responsible for delivering friendly and courteous service to Canadian Tire customers.  The Store Associate position is fast-paced, involving constant interaction with customers explaining product benefits and fulfilling customer needs. Helping customers is combined with store maintenance activities such as stocking shelves, merchandising and general housekeeping. 

Meet, greet and thank customers and provide friendly, informed service to them.
• Guide customers to the location of requested items.
• Suggest value-added and related products by actively listening to customer needs.
• Locate products in the warehouse.
• Respond to and handle customer inquiries, requests and concerns in a timely manner, over the phone and in person.
• Learn about new products on a regular basis.
• Keep up to date with in-store promotions, deals and product locations.
• Participate in meetings and training as required.
• Ensure that retail basics tasks are executed efficiently (e.g., stocking, labels, facing etc.).
• Identify low stock levels and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Comply with company, store and department policies.
• Follow store health & safety program and report any observed or potential hazards immediately.
• Maintain a professional appearance (uniform, hygiene, grooming and name tag).
• Ability to fulfil a cashier role an asset.
• Complete other tasks as required.

Job Requirements

 Physical Demands and Working Conditions

In compliance with the store’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures:

• Stand/walk for 8 hours.
• Lift and/or carry of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise item may vary in weight from “light” to “heavy”.
• Lift and turn repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Lift above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
• Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise.
• Walk and carry things at the same time and push/pull, as required.
• Twist, turn, reach and work above shoulder level.
