Job Description

At Jarlette the Resident Attendant is responsible and accountable to the Wellness Manager for providing optimum services to promote the well being of each individual resident
  • Participates in recreation and wellness process developed by the lodge to promote the well being of each resident
  • Communicate effectively with all lodge team members
  • Share responsibility for the care of lodge equipment and the personal belongings of the residents
  • Assist with the maintenance of records and documentation as assigned
  • Practice safety rules, use good body mechanics
  • Observe and report changes in resident's physical, social and emotional condition
  • Assist volunteers
  • Administer medications to residents as per Lodge routines
  • Report any unsafe conditions on the lodge property or in the building
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety
  • Follows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Work in cooperation with all other departments
  • Complete duties as assigned to support and meet the wellness needs of the residents

Job Requirements

  • Must be available 7 days a week and able to work flexible hours and call in shifts
  • Must possess current CPR and First Aid
  • Administration of Medication Certificate or equivalent medication administration training
  • A PSW certificate or equivalent education and / or working experience is preferred
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
  • Prior experience in Retirement Lodge/Gerontology an asset
  • Computer literate is preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Dependable  and  accountable
  • Must be able to lift throughout a 7.5 hour shift
